Sage People has built an end-to-end cloud solution to manage HR and People for global workforces. The product is a specially good fit for companies that use Salesforce. It also features a recruitment module as well automation for essential HR workflows.
Sage's HRIS is a customizable core HR suite built on top of Salesforce. Their product covers applicants through alumni and is a great option for companies in the small to medium enterprise range (150 - 5k employees) that have a global presence. They boast a 95% retention rate across their 500 customers, the result of a broad product that also integrates with the rest of Sage's ERP suite. This includes tools for finance, accounting, business management, and more.
Where Sage People really shines is in the amount of features it has that are specific to an internationally-distributed workforce. You can have different policies per region, so you can tailor payroll requirements, for instance, to each specific case. Have a remote employee somewhere in Europe? You can respond to their local requirements, from both a national and regional perspective, swiftly.
Of course, distributed doesn’t mean that it’s one department per region. What if you’ve got a few people in Norway but their direct report is in London and that person’s manager is in the US? You can still set them up as a team within the tool. Managers can handle team workflows like they were all in the same place. Yet, the team is aware of local holiday calendars and won’t set up a 1:1 or performance review if one person has a public holiday on that date, for instance.
As to the typical core HR features, the platform features an org chart that is dynamically updated as people are hired or switch jobs. You’ve also got an employee database and employee self-service tools for onboarding and documentation.
Companies that don’t use Salesforce might not be the best technical fit. Also, since the product is made with global workforces in mind, some features might be irrelevant for locally-based teams. For those cases, especially if you’re a smaller company, we recommend checking out Sage HR, their solution for the SMB market.

Sage started as a British startup back in 1981. Founder David Goldman noticed it was a hassle to create quotes and keep track of accounts within his small print business. Partnering with a team from Newcastle University that included Dr. Paul Muller, a computer scientist, and one of his students, Graham Wylie, they built a tool to address this paint point. It wasn’t long until they noticed that what they had built could benefit lots of other small businesses. As they put it, eight years later Sage was on the London Stock Exchange and valued at £20m.
These days they serve over millions of businesses through one or another of their software tools. As of 2022, they’ve got solutions for payroll, accounting, HR, payments and banking, scheduling, financial management, and more.
