In addition to being an affordable time tracking and productivity solution for businesses and individuals, Timecamp offers a self-hosting option for those that want to keep their time tracking and team performance data on a private server.
Some users have complained that the software can get laggy. They cite the product’s slow response and incorrect time entry calculation in this regard.
Timecamp is another affordable service on our list offering time tracking and productivity solutions to businesses and individuals. Timecamp takes the self-accountability approach to productivity. This contrasts the employee monitoring approach that is commonly found in most time tracking software.
Examples of this approach can be found in the “computer time” section of the software’s interface. This feature allows individual users to set goals, view their activity levels, and see how much time they were away from their computer. Speaking of which, Timecamp tracks activity levels and takes (optional) random screenshots. With Timecamp, users can decide whether they want to enable the screenshot feature for themselves or not.
Timecamp’s stand out feature is what they refer to as keyword tracking. Now, let’s say you are working on several projects or tasks and you are tracking time as you work, it might be difficult to determine the exact time you worked on one project from the time entries. With this keyword feature, you can set distinct keywords for every of your projects.
That way, as you switch from one project to the other, Timecamp will recognize the projects you are tracking time for at the moment by recognizing their keywords. When you go to your timesheet, you would see time logs grouped according to the projects you worked on. This feature makes it possible for you to work on multiple projects within the same time tracking session.
You get several reports with Timecamp. These reports can be categorized into three sections: time reports, people reports, and budget reports.
Time reports give you a summary of the total time you tracked time for a specific date range. You can apply filters to narrow the reports to your preference. As a project manager on Timecamp, you can get detailed reports that show you every one of your team members tracked time for a specific period.
The People reports give breakdowns of how much work your employees do per day, per task, and per project. It also gives you an overview of how your workers are assigned.
The budget report cross-references your budget estimates with your revenue and cost to calculate a margin. This feature helps managers stay on top of their financial situation and plan accordingly.
All these reports can be exported to a google spreadsheet or downloaded as an XLSX, CSV, or PDF file. You can also schedule reports to be sent periodically.
Timecamp is particular about data safety and privacy. They are one of the few time tracking software products in the market to be ISO 270001 certified, which is an information security data protection standard.
This standardization ensures the integrity and confidentiality of your data. Timecamp is also compliant with GDPR guidelines.
If, as a business, you prefer to be fully in charge of our data, you will appreciate Timecamp’s self-hosting option. They offer two ways of implementation— private cloud and self-hosted server. This option, however, can only be found in their enterprise price plans, which is a custom model.
This software has invoicing capabilities too. Invoices can be customized to include company name, company logo, and company address. All this information would have to be pre configured in the settings so they appear on every invoice you create.
Timecamp provides a platform for users to track an unlimited number of projects and add an unlimited number of users for free. You get other perks like time rounding, timesheet approvals, and so on when you get the paid version.
As a final note, we’ll add that very recently (March 2022) Timecamp made it possible for users to suggest features and leave feedback with what they call “UserVoice”.
This decentralized approach to improving software features is becoming more wide-spread with time tracking solutions and Timecamp is another application to join the bandwagon. Though they have not pointed to a feature they added as a result of user feedback, it will soon become a common occurrence as it is seen with software that uses feedback as a yardstick for improvement.

Time camp is best for businesses that require data privacy. If you want to host your time tracking software, Timecamp is also for you.
Timecamp started as an assignment for then student Kamil Rudnicki at the University of Wroclaw in 2008. It was a project he had to turn in to pass his C++ class. The assignment became a real product after he started attending startup communities meetings and met with one of the seed capital investors to start something together.
After several talks with Kamil, Venture Incubator SA took interest in the product and they collaborated with Kamil to develop the software.
In 2010, Asseco Polska, the largest IT company in Poland, invested an equivalent of $70,000 into the software's development. Since then, Timecamp has raised $238,000 dollars in funding. They have grown rapidly from serving local Polish clients to serving over 18,000 teams all around the world.
