23 Best Employee Rewards Programs Providers of 2026

Eight years ago I started SelectSoftware Reviews as a side project.  It was a blog that I wrote because I didn’t see much good advice online when it came to buying HR software.

It quickly got traction, and I realized there was a real need in the market for editorialized reviews of HR software so that busy HR teams could figure out which solutions were right for them.

When we first started, most of our traffic came from search engines, and we needed a name that was kind of like “best software” but didn’t cost $500k to secure.  My mom in all her wisdom said “what about select software?” and I registered the domain for $15 a few minutes later.

It’s a name that has served us well over the years.  Nearly 5 million people have come to this website to read our reviews.  We have over 150k people on our newsletter list, thousands that view our webinars each month, and generally I am so proud of what our team has accomplished in this space.

But, over time we have begun to realize that “SelectSoftware Reviews” is a mouthful that is hard to remember (and every time I write out my email it takes a lot of brain power to do the part with “rere” correctly.

It’s been a discussion for a while over a rebrand.  We’ve run surveys, asked dozens of friends, and had a few long conversations.  Last year we almost pulled the trigger on “Software Pancakes” (we’ll help you craft the right stack hehe), but stopped short after getting so much pushback.

One key aspect of a rebrand is contemplating our future where we are more than just HR Tech reviews/advice.  We have a thriving community, newsletter, job board, and are even starting in person events.

When people refer to us, they say “SSR” and so, we are not going to fight that.  And, it gives us the flexibility we need.

So, I’m happy to announce that over the coming months we will be rebranding to SSR.  You will start to see our website change, our social media handles, and everything else that has our name.

It’s kind of bittersweet, scary, and exciting at the same time.  SelectSoftware Reviews has served us so well and the blog I started in 2018 has surpassed all of my expectations.

But, it is time to move forward with SSR as our official name.  Wish us luck and please come along for the journey as we look to lift up HR Professionals, and of course help them figure out what tech to buy :)
