Zoho Recruit Review

Can a platform pack an Applicant Tracking System and a Candidate Relationship Management tool into a single hub? This is what the guys at Zoho set out to do with their recruiting product. Notably, this is only one of Zoho’s products that has become popular with many HR teams, along with Zoho People and Zoho Shifts. Zoho Recruit is only one of Zoho’s 50+ products helping businesses not only in recruitment but also in finances, sales, marketing, support, and collaboration.

That being said, Zoho Recruit is notable for being tailored to the needs of staffing agencies, internal HR teams (at big and small companies), and even freelance headhunters alike. At each of those use cases, and the many iterations therein, Zoho can source candidates from over 75 job boards and keep track of every touchpoint; from application to hire.

Typical talent acquisition tasks like email management, interview scheduling, and updating candidate’s status, can be automated. Although used by bigger companies, this is part of what has made Zoho Recruit popular with small companies and startups, where time is of the essence and maybe recruitment is a shared responsibility across roles.

Although we cover this in more detail on our pricing section, Zoho Recruit has always been a popular bet for its value too. Their free plan is good enough for small recruiting firms or freelancers focusing on one job opening, and it just keeps getting bigger after that.

To give you an idea, the Standard plan includes 250 active jobs, AI candidate matching, advanced analytics, automatic screenings and assessments, background checks, and assignment rules you can set up. A nice thing about their pricing is that popular modules like video interviews (one-way or live) are available as separately-priced add-ons. This ability to mix and match is something that has always made Zoho stand out. You can switch as you go, according to your needs. This is especially worth considering as their plans have evolved over the years to include the features that start making waves in the market.

What users think of Zoho Recruit

Reviewer's Rating
8/10

We use Zoho Recruit to post job openings, track applicants, schedule interviews, and store candidate details. It also helps us send automated emails to candidates, which saves us a lot of time. Our hiring managers can see each candidate’s progress in the hiring process.

We use it to share notes and feedback about interviews. It is useful for organizing resumes and checking qualifications quickly. We also use it to create custom reports on our hiring performance. Everyone on the HR team has access and uses it daily.

What do you like about Zoho Recruit?
  • Zoho Recruit is intuitive to use, even for people who are not tech-savvy.
  • It helps save time by automating emails and interview scheduling.
  • The dashboard shows all job applications in one place.
  • You can customize it to match your hiring process.
  • It connects with job boards like LinkedIn and Indeed and integrates with Zoho People.
Why did your organization buy Zoho Recruit, and how long have you used it for?

Our organization bought Zoho Recruit to make the hiring process faster and more organized. We needed a tool to help us track job applications and manage interviews in one place. Before that, we used emails and spreadsheets, which were hard to keep up with.

Zoho Recruit helped us stay on top of everything by keeping all the hiring information together. We have been using it for about two years now. Since we started using it, our team has spent less time doing manual work. It has also helped us reduce delays in hiring new employees.

We chose it because it was affordable and had useful features that met our needs.

What do you dislike about Zoho Recruit?
  • The mobile app does not work as well as the desktop version.
  • Some features take time to set up or understand.
  • It can be slow when handling large amounts of data.
  • Customer support is inconsistent, slow, and unavailable beyond core work hours.
  • Resume parsing is sometimes inaccurate and requires manual entry.
How is Zoho Recruit different than their competitors?

Zoho Recruit is different because it offers a lot of features at a lower cost than many other tools. It is suitable for small and mid-sized companies that need a solid system without spending too much.

Many competitors charge extra for features that Zoho includes in its standard plans. It also works well with other Zoho apps, like Zoho CRM, which makes it easy to connect different business tools. The user interface is clean and simple, so it is easy to learn.

While other tools focus mostly on large enterprises, Zoho Recruit supports businesses of all sizes. It also offers strong customization for forms, workflows, and reports.

Overall, it gives users a lot of control at a lower price.

What Instructions should people think about when buying this type of tool?

When choosing a tool like Zoho Recruit, people should consider how easy it is to use. They should check if it fits their hiring process and whether it can be customized.

Price is another important factor, especially for smaller companies. It's useful to check how well the tool integrates with the rest of their tech stack.

Companies should also evaluate the quality of customer support. Features like automation, tracking, and reporting are important. It’s also worth checking how many users are included in each plan.

How has Zoho Recruit changed or evolved over time to meet users needs?

Zoho Recruit has added many new features over the years. It now includes better automation tools that save time for recruiters. The design has become easier to use with more helpful visuals.

They have added improved options for remote hiring and video interviews. The system can now track hiring metrics more accurately.

Zoho has also added AI features to help rank candidates faster. It continues to improve based on customer feedback.

What specific type of user or organization is Zoho Recruit very good for?

Zoho Recruit is well-suited for small to medium-sized companies that want a complete hiring system without spending a lot. It works well for HR teams that need help tracking multiple job openings.

What specific type of user or organization would Zoho Recruit not be a good fit for?

Zoho Recruit might not be the best fit for very large enterprises with complex hiring needs. These companies may require more advanced tools or deeper system integrations.

It is also not ideal for businesses with very high volumes of hiring, such as large staffing agencies.

Reviewer's Rating
6/10

I used it daily. It was easy to upload and download résumés, manage candidate information, and pull basic reports. You could keep the session open all day on one screen while reaching out to candidates and adding notes during calls. I stayed logged in for my entire shift each workday. Since we didn’t have an ATS at the time, we used Zoho in its place.

What do you like about Zoho Recruit?
  • It is an affordable tool that works well when the number of openings and hires is manageable and the recruitment team is small.
  • It is user-friendly and does not require extensive training.
  • Reporting features and analytics are basic but sufficient to perform daily tasks.
Why did your organization buy Zoho Recruit, and how long have you used it for?

It was a small organization with many openings and high turnover. Zoho is ideal when the recruitment budget is tight, but you still need to manage and use it as an ATS. Options are limited (no text feature, bulk emails, or interactions), but it provides an easy way to track candidate status and avoid duplicates.

It works well for small companies with one or two recruiters, which was our situation at the time. I used it for over a year, logging in daily for my entire shift.

What do you dislike about Zoho Recruit?
  • Customer support is not very strong.
  • The setup process takes considerable time, and if it is not done correctly, problems can arise later.
  • The sync feature does not always work correctly, requiring multiple attempts.
How is Zoho Recruit different than their competitors?

It is one of the more affordable options for posting jobs and managing candidates.

What Instructions should people think about when buying this type of tool?

Consider the size of the company and the recruitment team. Think about the visibility you need for job postings and the average number of openings you handle. These factors will determine whether Zoho is an appropriate fit.

How has Zoho Recruit changed or evolved over time to meet users needs?

They are incorporating AI features, offering job site integrations, and providing more customization options, which makes the product more flexible for users.

What specific type of user or organization is Zoho Recruit very good for?

Small staffing agencies will find Zoho Recruit very helpful.

What specific type of user or organization would Zoho Recruit not be a good fit for?

Large organizations with more than 5,000 employees won’t benefit from Zoho Recruit. Staffing firms specializing in executive or C-suite hires. Healthcare and law firms that require extensive compliance and undergo regular audits.

Reviewer's Rating
10/10

You must first have a Zoho Recruit account and align it with the company you'll be working with through the tool. Select the profile that best matches your recruitment goals, and configure your dashboard with the most useful tools for segmenting candidates and profiles.

Add job openings and begin managing the leads that apply—you can filter and segment them based on specific requirements. Use workflow tools to track each stage, from initial review to calls, interviews, and hiring.

You can also create templates to send information more efficiently, integrate other tools (preferably within the Zoho suite), complete the hiring process, upload documents, and archive job openings.

What do you like about Zoho Recruit?
  • It is a useful tool for segmenting candidates and managing recruitment efficiently, with features for uploading documents, sending mass emails, and conducting assessments.
  • It provides all the necessary tools to make the recruitment process more efficient.
  • It allows you to evaluate, qualify, and segment candidates, track progress, view interview schedules, send documents, and generate hiring reports with an organized workflow.
Why did your organization buy Zoho Recruit, and how long have you used it for?

The company I acquired Zoho Recruit for specializes in sending professionals and students to professional exchange programs abroad. I used Zoho to segment profiles, post job offers, tag and categorize leads as new, registered, canceled, or finalized.

It allowed me to review companies, manage candidates, and streamline the entire recruitment process. The platform made recruitment more agile and efficient by centralizing all necessary tools in one place.

What do you dislike about Zoho Recruit?

Learning to use such a comprehensive tool can be challenging at first. While it includes many features that improve efficiency, the learning curve is steep. It is not ideal for beginners and may be less accessible for small companies or teams just starting out.

How is Zoho Recruit different than their competitors?

This tool is part of the Zoho suite, which includes applications like CRM and Zoho People, allowing for seamless integration. It is a comprehensive and cost-effective solution, with a free version that still offers excellent recruitment features.

What Instructions should people think about when buying this type of tool?

If you are focused on recruitment, Zoho Recruit is a great tool for posting job openings, segmenting candidates, scheduling interviews, and managing the hiring process. It supports pre-recruitment, recruitment, and post-recruitment in a single, organized system. Zoho Recruit also helps analyze candidates and track recruitment progress based on your workflow, enabling project prioritization and task completion.

How has Zoho Recruit changed or evolved over time to meet users needs?

Zoho Recruit has continuously evolved, making its platform more user-friendly and accessible to those with less experience. The design is more intuitive, and the tool now improves workflow management with customizable dashboards that help users keep priorities in focus.

What specific type of user or organization is Zoho Recruit very good for?

Zoho Recruit is well-suited for companies or individuals involved in recruitment. It’s ideal for startups looking to grow their teams, recruitment agencies managing multiple clients, or HR departments in larger companies seeking a centralized platform to manage candidates and applicants.

What specific type of user or organization would Zoho Recruit not be a good fit for?

It may not be suitable for companies with highly complex selection processes that require advanced technical or quantitative assessments. Organizations conducting high-volume hiring while relying on other recruitment CRMs or those unfamiliar with the Zoho ecosystem may find the platform less effective. It’s also not the best fit for beginners in recruitment.

Who shouldn't buy Zoho Recruit

Those wanting a simpler tool sharply focused on certain parts of the recruitment process— for instance, video interviews or career site design— may find Zoho’s Recruits offering too general. Since they cover such a broad spectrum of needs, it can take them time to get the design up to modern standards, in some cases.

How has Zoho Recruit Changed Over Time?

Zoho Recruit’s most recent updates highlight a dual focus: building intelligence directly into candidate evaluation through Zoho’s own large language model, Zia, while also making efforts to improve user experience on everyday workflows.

  • AI-Powered Assessments and Zia LLM: Recruiters can now generate ready-to-use assessments tailored to each role, with Zoho’s native AI model powering the process. The goal is fairness, consistency, and structured recruitment without the manual legwork.
  • Profile Summary by Zia: Scanning resumes one at a time is giving way to instant AI summaries. With Zia’s help, recruiters can expect to save time and effort on shortlisting, as they can now view key candidate highlights in either bulleted or descriptive form.
  • Numerical Rating in Interviewer Assessments: Candidate evaluation has gained more precision with a numerical rating system. Interviewers can score answers by number, set thresholds, and even switch between rating styles (star, thumbs-up, or numeric) with results converting automatically for consistency.
  • Real-Time Notifications in Vendor Portal: Vendors now get instant alerts when jobs are shared or edited, notes are added, or candidate statuses change.
  • Smarter Cooling-Off Periods: The cooling-off functionality has been extended to cover the Career Site, Vendor Portal, and Employee Referrals. Recruiters can set durations, trigger alerts, and ensure candidates and vendors enjoy a smoother process.
  • Bulk Action Buttons: Custom buttons in List View allow teams to act on multiple records at once, such as candidates, jobs, or clients, from the toolbar.
  • Custom Buttons and Links in Portals: Portals for candidates, clients, and vendors now support custom actions. Recruiters can design experiences where users trigger specific workflows themselves.
  • CV-Library Integration: UK-based hiring is expected to become easier with this new integration, as it lets recruiters tap into millions of resumes, refine searches, and unlock CVs with credits within Zoho Recruit.

Zoho Recruit Implementation

With the Zoho Recruit platform, you only need to set up a Zoho Recruit account to get started. After that, you can now post a job and start sourcing candidates.

For bigger teams, based on complexity of customer requirements and the amount of requested features, Zoho Recruit’s implementation time can vary widely, from a couple of weeks or even up to several months.

Zoho Recruit Customer Success

Customer support caters to new and existing customers who have questions about pricing, licenses, and other services. In addition, Zoho has offices worldwide, so you won’t have to worry about your concerns getting lost in an email inbox. Their support is typically handled on a 24/5 basis.

About Zoho Recruit

The Zoho story goes back to 1996, with the founding of AdventNet Inc. Back then, the company made a network management tool that was popular internationally, but mainly in the Japanese market. Then, in 2001, they launched Zoho CRM, which quickly became one of their best-selling apps.

Then, in 2005, the company caught up with the times and started offering cloud-based applications. They began with the Writer app, then Show (a presentation tool), Creator (custom application builder), and Zoho Sheets. It wasn’t long until they realized that there could be a Zoho tool for just about every kind of business app. If you’re curious, the Zoho ‘about page’ actually has an interactive timeline where you can see the evolution of the company year to year. Nowadays, Zoho has over 75 million users worldwide, several offices across the globe, and more than 50 products for marketing, finance, customer and tech support, team collaboration, and of course, HR and recruitment.
