Zoho Recruit Review

Can a platform pack an Applicant Tracking System and a Candidate Relationship Management tool into a single hub? This is what the guys at Zoho set out to do with their recruiting product. Notably, this is only one of Zoho’s products that has become popular with many HR teams, along with Zoho People and Zoho Shifts. Zoho Recruit is only one of Zoho’s 50+ products helping businesses not only in recruitment but also in finances, sales, marketing, support, and collaboration.

That being said, Zoho Recruit is notable for being tailored to the needs of staffing agencies, internal HR teams (at big and small companies), and even freelance headhunters alike. At each of those use cases, and the many iterations therein, Zoho can source candidates from over 75 job boards and keep track of every touchpoint; from application to hire.

Typical talent acquisition tasks like email management, interview scheduling, and updating candidate’s status, can be automated. Although used by bigger companies, this is part of what has made Zoho Recruit popular with small companies and startups, where time is of the essence and maybe recruitment is a shared responsibility across roles.

Although we cover this in more detail on our pricing section, Zoho Recruit has always been a popular bet for its value too. Their free plan is good enough for small recruiting firms or freelancers focusing on one job opening, and it just keeps getting bigger after that.

To give you an idea, the Standard plan includes 250 active jobs, AI candidate matching, advanced analytics, automatic screenings and assessments, background checks, and assignment rules you can set up. A nice thing about their pricing is that popular modules like video interviews (one-way or live) are available as separately-priced add-ons. This ability to mix and match is something that has always made Zoho stand out. You can switch as you go, according to your needs. This is especially worth considering as their plans have evolved over the years to include the features that start making waves in the market.

What users think of Zoho Recruit

Reviewer's Rating
10/10

We use Zoho daily. We manage the application process and track candidate pipelines. We link candidates to open positions and associate them with customers.

Zoho also helps us track customer communication. The CV parsing feature with AI functions simplifies our workflow significantly.

What do you like about Zoho Recruit?

The functionality is unmatched compared to similar products on the market. You get everything in one application. It supports not only recruiting processes but also customer management. The pricing is also very competitive.

Why did your organization buy Zoho Recruit, and how long have you used it for?

We needed a tool to manage our recruiting process. As an IT consulting company, we needed to manage not only candidates but also customers and their projects. Most recruiting tools on the market offer very limited functionality.

Only Zoho could meet all our needs by offering an all-in-one solution at a very reasonable price. The support team has also been extremely helpful.

What do you dislike about Zoho Recruit?

The wide range of functions can make setup challenging without guidance. If you're not a developer, integrating the application form into external resources is not easy. The automation tools are useful but somewhat difficult to configure. Zoho’s representative partners in Europe can be overly pushy.

How is Zoho Recruit different than their competitors?

It offers significantly more functionality at a better price.

What Instructions should people think about when buying this type of tool?

Compare your company’s needs with the tool’s features and pricing. This is the most effective way to determine which tool is the best fit for your situation.

How has Zoho Recruit changed or evolved over time to meet users needs?

Updates are made regularly. As a user, I’ve noticed that the team is constantly working to improve the service.

What specific type of user or organization is Zoho Recruit very good for?

Zoho Recruit is well-suited for managing candidates, customers, and contacts—particularly for consulting or recruiting-focused organizations.

What specific type of user or organization would Zoho Recruit not be a good fit for?

Not sure.

Reviewer's Rating
10/10

I use Zoho Recruit daily to manage the full recruitment lifecycle from sourcing to placement. It helps me organize candidates, track communications, and manage job postings across multiple platforms.

I rely heavily on its automation tools, resume parsing, and customizable workflows to streamline repetitive tasks. The system keeps my client and candidate pipeline organized and makes it easy to monitor progress at every stage.

Overall, Zoho Recruit is an essential part of my recruiting operations and supports smooth, efficient hiring processes.

What do you like about Zoho Recruit?

I appreciate the powerful automation tools and resume parsing features, which save time and streamline repetitive tasks.

Why did your organization buy Zoho Recruit, and how long have you used it for?

We chose Zoho Recruit because it offered the best combination of features, customization, and value compared to the alternatives. Our team needed a system that could support a complete recruitment workflow without requiring multiple disconnected tools.

What do you dislike about Zoho Recruit?
  • There can be a learning curve when first setting up custom workflows and integrations, especially for users who are not tech-savvy.
  • A few features require extra configuration to get the most out of them.
  • Once it’s set up, everything runs smoothly, but the initial setup could be more beginner-friendly.
How is Zoho Recruit different than their competitors?

Zoho Recruit stands out for its strong automation and workflow customization. You can tailor hiring pipelines, automate routine tasks (email triggers, status updates, scheduling), and use built-in blueprints or workflows. This makes it more efficient for teams than tools that rely heavily on manual processes.

What Instructions should people think about when buying this type of tool?

Scalability and flexibility are key. Even if your team is small now, the tool should scale as you grow—adding more users, roles, and candidates—and allow customization of pipelines, fields, and automations as your needs evolve.

How has Zoho Recruit changed or evolved over time to meet users needs?

When it started, Zoho Recruit was mostly a simple applicant tracking system (ATS). Over the years, it has grown into a comprehensive tool covering candidate sourcing, job board distribution, CRM-style candidate relationship management, interview scheduling, onboarding-ready pipelines, and more.

What specific type of user or organization is Zoho Recruit very good for?

Zoho Recruit is especially good for small to mid-sized businesses, staffing agencies, and teams that need a customizable and affordable applicant tracking system.

What specific type of user or organization would Zoho Recruit not be a good fit for?

Very large enterprises with complex global hiring needs will not get everything they need from Zoho Recruit.

Reviewer's Rating
10/10

I use Zoho Recruit on a daily basis to manage all aspects of my recruitment workflow. I begin by posting job openings and tracking applications as they come in, ensuring all candidate information is properly organized.

I use it to screen CVs, shortlist candidates, and schedule interviews, keeping both clients and candidates updated throughout the process. I also track client communications, manage job orders, and generate reports to monitor progress and performance.

Overall, Zoho Recruit helps me stay efficient, reduces administrative work, and ensures nothing is missed during the recruitment cycle.

What do you like about Zoho Recruit?
  • Zoho Recruit keeps all candidate and client information organized in one easy-to-use platform.
  • The automation features save a lot of time on repetitive tasks like CV parsing and follow-ups.
  • Reporting and analytics provide clear insights into recruitment performance and progress.
Why did your organization buy Zoho Recruit, and how long have you used it for?

We purchased Zoho Recruit to streamline and centralize our recruitment process. I have personally used it for over 12 months.

What do you dislike about Zoho Recruit?
  • Some advanced features can be difficult to set up without additional guidance or support.
  • The reporting options, while useful, can feel limited compared to more customizable analytics tools.
  • Occasionally, integrations with other platforms are not as seamless as expected, requiring extra manual work.
How is Zoho Recruit different than their competitors?

Zoho Recruit stands out because it’s an all-in-one recruitment platform that keeps candidates, clients, and workflows organized. I like its CV parsing, candidate scoring, and automation features, which save time and improve placement quality.

Compared to competitors, it’s flexible, affordable, and integrates well with other tools, making it suitable for small-to-medium agencies like mine. While some features could be more intuitive and reporting more customizable, overall it’s efficient and reliable.

What Instructions should people think about when buying this type of tool?

When choosing a recruitment tool, I look for strong applicant tracking, CV parsing, and candidate matching to save time and reduce manual work. Flexibility and customizable workflows are important so the system can match my existing processes.

I also value automation and integration with email, calendars, and job boards to maintain efficiency. Robust reporting and analytics are useful for tracking performance and managing multiple clients.

I recommend prioritizing tools that are scalable, adaptable, and simplify day-to-day recruitment.

How has Zoho Recruit changed or evolved over time to meet users needs?

Yes, Zoho Recruit has evolved with updates that improve automation, usability, and integration options, helping it better meet recruitment needs over time.

What specific type of user or organization is Zoho Recruit very good for?

Staffing and recruiting agencies that manage multiple clients and require an organized, all-in-one platform will find Zoho Recruit helpful.

What specific type of user or organization would Zoho Recruit not be a good fit for?

Organizations that require a mobile-first design or advanced features like video interviewing or bulk data operations may find Zoho Recruit’s interface outdated and less suitable compared to newer tools.

Who shouldn't buy Zoho Recruit

Those wanting a simpler tool sharply focused on certain parts of the recruitment process— for instance, video interviews or career site design— may find Zoho’s Recruits offering too general. Since they cover such a broad spectrum of needs, it can take them time to get the design up to modern standards, in some cases.

Zoho Recruit is Best For

How has Zoho Recruit Changed Over Time?

Zoho Recruit’s most recent updates highlight a dual focus: building intelligence directly into candidate evaluation through Zoho’s own large language model, Zia, while also making efforts to improve user experience on everyday workflows.

  • AI-Powered Assessments and Zia LLM: Recruiters can now generate ready-to-use assessments tailored to each role, with Zoho’s native AI model powering the process. The goal is fairness, consistency, and structured recruitment without the manual legwork.
  • Profile Summary by Zia: Scanning resumes one at a time is giving way to instant AI summaries. With Zia’s help, recruiters can expect to save time and effort on shortlisting, as they can now view key candidate highlights in either bulleted or descriptive form.
  • Numerical Rating in Interviewer Assessments: Candidate evaluation has gained more precision with a numerical rating system. Interviewers can score answers by number, set thresholds, and even switch between rating styles (star, thumbs-up, or numeric) with results converting automatically for consistency.
  • Real-Time Notifications in Vendor Portal: Vendors now get instant alerts when jobs are shared or edited, notes are added, or candidate statuses change.
  • Smarter Cooling-Off Periods: The cooling-off functionality has been extended to cover the Career Site, Vendor Portal, and Employee Referrals. Recruiters can set durations, trigger alerts, and ensure candidates and vendors enjoy a smoother process.
  • Bulk Action Buttons: Custom buttons in List View allow teams to act on multiple records at once, such as candidates, jobs, or clients, from the toolbar.
  • Custom Buttons and Links in Portals: Portals for candidates, clients, and vendors now support custom actions. Recruiters can design experiences where users trigger specific workflows themselves.
  • CV-Library Integration: UK-based hiring is expected to become easier with this new integration, as it lets recruiters tap into millions of resumes, refine searches, and unlock CVs with credits within Zoho Recruit.

Zoho Recruit Implementation

With the Zoho Recruit platform, you only need to set up a Zoho Recruit account to get started. After that, you can now post a job and start sourcing candidates.

For bigger teams, based on complexity of customer requirements and the amount of requested features, Zoho Recruit’s implementation time can vary widely, from a couple of weeks or even up to several months.

Zoho Recruit Customer Success

Customer support caters to new and existing customers who have questions about pricing, licenses, and other services. In addition, Zoho has offices worldwide, so you won’t have to worry about your concerns getting lost in an email inbox. Their support is typically handled on a 24/5 basis.

About Zoho Recruit

The Zoho story goes back to 1996, with the founding of AdventNet Inc. Back then, the company made a network management tool that was popular internationally, but mainly in the Japanese market. Then, in 2001, they launched Zoho CRM, which quickly became one of their best-selling apps.

Then, in 2005, the company caught up with the times and started offering cloud-based applications. They began with the Writer app, then Show (a presentation tool), Creator (custom application builder), and Zoho Sheets. It wasn’t long until they realized that there could be a Zoho tool for just about every kind of business app. If you’re curious, the Zoho ‘about page’ actually has an interactive timeline where you can see the evolution of the company year to year. Nowadays, Zoho has over 75 million users worldwide, several offices across the globe, and more than 50 products for marketing, finance, customer and tech support, team collaboration, and of course, HR and recruitment.
