Canditech’s biggest strength is its ability to place candidates in situations that resemble the work they'll be doing. We liked this approach because it gives candidates a chance to demonstrate their abilities rather than simply telling the hiring team what they know.
During our demo, we saw how hiring teams can build these simulations using videos, images, links, screenshots, and datasets. For example, you could ask a candidate for an Excel-heavy role to complete a spreadsheet task, have someone applying for a data position work with a SQL dataset, or give a candidate a workplace scenario and see how they respond. They can feel much more like a preview of the job itself.
The platform gives hiring teams strong control over how assessments are designed. Canditech has over 500 assessment sections covering technical skills, soft skills, cognitive ability, reasoning, situational judgment, and AI proficiency. Questions, scoring weights, time limits, difficulty, language, and branding are customizable. Plus, there's an AI Assessment Builder you can use to generate assessments from given job descriptions to save time.
We also found the user experience well thought out. Candidates receive clear instructions and progress updates throughout the assessment, while employers can customize the branding and messaging to make the experience feel more aligned with their company. The platform also keeps assessment management relatively simple. Assessments provide overall and section-level scores, percentile rankings, scoring distributions, and proctoring information. AI agents can score open-text and video responses using customized criteria while hiring teams retain full control to override results as needed, which we appreciated.
Canditech integrates with more than 40 ATSs, which makes it easier to add assessments to an existing recruiting workflow. However, we should warn you that these aren't available on the lowest-tier plan. We also think the API experience could be more convenient, since teams need to contact support for API access rather than getting everything directly through a self-service developer portal.
