Users can also require the interview panel to explain and justify their ratings to promote transparency and fairness.

To see the hiring process through to the finish line, Greenhouse’s onboarding module equips users with customization and automation features. Offer letters can be personalized and then sent out automatically. We use Greenhouse to recruit for internal and external software engineering and product management roles. Although our workflow is not complex, it includes multiple stages that candidates must pass through. Our hiring managers need complete visibility into the candidate pipeline, and our HR team needs full access to interview notes.

We also prioritize the candidate experience, ensuring that candidates are kept informed and have clear expectations at every stage. The workflows for scheduling and follow-up are straightforward and support the automation of our recruitment processes.

  • We like the automation it provides for our processes.

Why did your organization buy Greenhouse, and how long have you used it for?

We have used Greenhouse for approximately four years. At the time of purchase, we were in high-growth mode and needed a scalable solution that could integrate with our other tools, offer a clean user experience, and provide robust analytics. We also aimed to automate many of the manual processes already in place.

I have personally used the tool since implementation. It has eased some of our challenges, particularly with integrations and automation, though it has not consistently delivered actionable analytics.

What do you dislike about Greenhouse?
  • The reporting and analytics features are lacking; we would like more detailed metrics on time to hire, candidate pass-through rates, and overall hiring metrics that help assess a candidate's likelihood of success in our organization.
  • Although candidates find it easy to use, some hiring managers struggle with inputting value-added interview notes. We would benefit from guidance on making feedback objective, bias-free, and actionable.
  • We would also appreciate additional features that help reduce bias in the hiring process.
How is Greenhouse different than their competitors?

Greenhouse is more robust than JazzHR, our previous ATS solution. It offers better automation, stronger integrations with other tools, and is relatively easy to configure. We strongly prefer using Greenhouse.

The company uses Greenhouse as an Applicant Tracking System. We use it to create and post job listings on LinkedIn and to manage candidates from application through to offer letters. During the interview phases, Greenhouse integrates with GoodTime to manage scheduling.

Once a candidate reaches the offer stage, accepts, and a start date is established, Greenhouse integrates with Workday. This integration is crucial to the workflow of both the Talent Acquisition and People teams, as it automates the transfer of data from Greenhouse to Workday, initiating the onboarding process.

What do you like about Greenhouse?
  • Greenhouse is user-friendly and straightforward—there’s no hassle in learning to use it.
  • Even new users can be trained easily due to its intuitive design.
  • The user interface is clean and easy to navigate.
  • The built-in Help system is thorough and accessible via chat or search.
  • I’ve worked with many ATS platforms, and Greenhouse is by far my favorite.
Why did your organization buy Greenhouse, and how long have you used it for?

The company I’m contracted with purchased Greenhouse to address manual processes and integration issues during a period of rapid growth. When a startup reaches a certain size, it becomes necessary to have a system in place to track that growth and provide a shared database for all stakeholders. The volume of work increases, making manual processes no longer feasible.

Greenhouse helps resolve this by storing and tracking employee data on the talent acquisition side and by offering automation tools that ease the burden of extensive task lists. The company has been using Greenhouse for about four years.

What do you dislike about Greenhouse?
  • As a company grows to mid-size, Greenhouse alone may no longer be sufficient.
  • It often becomes necessary to purchase additional software to extend its functionality.
  • While integration errors are rare, they are not quickly resolved and can cause delays.
  • Although customer support is helpful, resolution times of two to three days can hinder productivity.
  • Over time, data accumulation requires manual backend cleanup, which is time-consuming and resource-intensive.

Greenhouse is used daily by Talent Acquisition team members and regularly by hiring managers and HR Business Partners for managing job requisitions.

The two workflows with the most impact for us are candidate management and interview management.

The candidate management workflow gives us access to applicants for specific roles and helps identify qualified candidates from our broader talent pool—functioning like a second set of eyes during sourcing.

We especially value the interview management workflow. It allows us to create interview rubrics to evaluate all aspects of a role and candidate pool, coordinate interviews efficiently, and uphold fairness and objectivity in our hiring practices.

When I was at a tech firm, we struggled with every aspect of talent acquisition being fragmented and manual. Once we decided to invest in our talent acquisition ecosystem, Greenhouse was an obvious choice to consider.

We needed a central location to manage core activities such as talent pipeline candidate scoring, internal team coordination, and a method for tracking key performance indicators (KPIs).

Greenhouse evolved and continued to offer new solutions as our needs changed. These included tools to improve the candidate experience, maintain alignment with stakeholders throughout the hiring process, and manage onboarding efficiently.

What do you dislike about Greenhouse?
  • Dashboard features are limited unless you opt for a higher-priced plan.
  • Product and pricing information could be more accessible; having a full team reach out during initial research can be off-putting.
