Culture Amp is an all-in-one employee experience platform, that runs the gamut from engagement to performance management to employee development and skills coaching. With over 6,000 customers that include some big names across many industries, it's a tried-and-true solution for any company looking to boost engagement efforts.

We mainly use it during engagement survey cycles and performance review seasons. Running the surveys is pretty straightforward and we are able to keep up with the completion statuses by team.
Being able to see the completion rates is super helpful when it comes to driving participation. The 360 feedback setup is something we use regularly too. You import the reporting structure, and it basically handles assigning reviewers for you, which has saved us a lot of back and forth.
After everything closes out, we dig into dashboards to see what came up and where we might need to focus.
The engagement surveys and benchmarking are genuinely very good, so it's easy to see how your teams compare to industry norms. The dashboards are clean and make it simple to spot trends without having to dig around.
Setting up performance reviews is way less painful than I expected, especially the 360 feedback piece, since it pulls from your reporting structure automatically.
And tracking completion by team is a small thing, but it works! We have some people get playfully competitive with it.
We bought Culture Amp because we were struggling to get a real pulse on how employees were feeling across the organization. Before this, feedback collection was pretty scattered, with nothing centralized, which made it hard to act on.
We needed something that could run surveys at scale and actually help us make sense of the results. The benchmarking piece was a big draw too, being able to see how we stack up against other companies in our industry.
I've been using it for a while now, and overall it's been solid, though I'll be honest, the reporting flexibility leaves something to be desired.
The price is the first thing that comes to mind, because it is not cheap. The reporting is also frustrating at times, because it is not as customizable as I would like. If I want to filter by a specific manager or region, it gets clunky fast. I sometimes feel like I'm working around the tool rather than with it when I'm trying to pull something specific.
Culture Amp really leans into the people analytics and engagement side of things, which is where I believe it stands out. Some other tools can feel a little more flexible or easier to customize, especially when it comes to reporting or tweaking performance workflows.
Be realistic with your budget and company size. This tool is built for mid-size and larger organizations, so the price definitely reflects that. Think about how seriously you want to use engagement benchmarking, because that is where Culture Amp really starts to show its value.
And if performance reviews and 360 feedback are important to you, make sure whatever you pick can handle that without a ton of manual work.
When we first started using it, it felt more like a survey tool with some extra bells and whistles. Over time, though, it's grown into something more complete, with performance management, goal tracking, and 360 feedback feeling more baked in now. The analytics have gotten better too, which makes it easier to actually do something with the data rather than just looking at it.
Mid-sized to larger companies that are serious about employee engagement and want real data to back up their decisions and plans. If you're running regular surveys, care about benchmarking, and want performance reviews to feel organized rather than chaotic, I think it is a good fit!
Smaller or early-stage companies, honestly. If you're not going to use most of the features, it can feel a bit like overkill, and you could easily be paying for more than you need, making the price hard to justify. If you do not need all of the features, you can find lighter tools out there that make more sense financially.
I used Culture Amp primarily for performance review workflows, including evaluating merit and bonuses for employees who had been with the company for a year or more. The review process included input from managers, teams, and peers.
It provided a clear way to assess performance across different levels. It was useful for benchmarking and tracking progress over time. We used it quarterly as part of the broader performance management cycle.
I liked the structured schema and how clearly categorized everything was. The interface was straightforward and easy to navigate. The customer service team was helpful and responsive, especially with standard operating procedures.
I used Culture Amp at Replit when the company had around 80–100 people. It was helpful for conducting performance reviews, quarterly reviews, and similar evaluations. It served as a strong benchmarking tool, and I appreciated the structured format.

It does not automatically sync with HRIS systems, so updates must be done manually. IT involvement is often required, or the HR team needs technical knowledge to manage it. If you want to use Excel, you have to download a CSV and work outside the platform.
It’s relatively easy to use and more affordable than many alternatives due to its customization options. Compared to Lattice, Culture Amp is more intuitive. It remains a strong option for teams looking for simplicity and flexibility.
