ClearCo Review

ClearCo provides a series of cloud-based HR solutions that you can purchase individually or combine as needed. Their applicant tracking system (ATS) packs employer branding and candidate sourcing capabilities with job post distribution to multiple job boards and customizable career sites. You can also screen candidates through recorded video interviews or live interviews with third-party video conferencing integrations, send them offer letters, and onboard them via ClearCo’s own onboarding solution.

To drive employee performance and engagement, ClearCo facilitates different kinds of employee reviews, goal planning, as well as surveys so you can continuously gauge the health of your organization’s culture and improve accordingly. The platform covers employee recognition too with employee celebrations and shoutouts features.

You can also plan for the future with ClearCo’s Workforce Planning module. Currently, this module packs features for continuous talent planning, talent metrics & assumptions by role, people analytics, headcount forecasting, hiring plan development, data visualization tools, equipment management, and more.

Overall, we think that ClearCo is a solid platform that many medium and large-size businesses can benefit from. It is feature-rich and user-friendly, and the team behind it offers great support and implementation services according to most people that use it.

What users think of ClearCo

Reviewer's Rating
5/10

As a contractor, I manage about 10 requisitions. I primarily use the platform to publish job posts on the website, manage applicants within the ATS, advance candidates through the process based on hiring manager feedback, and extract applicant data and demographic information for analysis.

I focus on the recruiting workflow by reviewing applications, updating applicant statuses, and uploading documents such as updated resumes, portfolios, interview assessments, and hiring manager feedback.

I have also used the Prospects function to source passive and previous candidates by using Boolean string searches within the Candidates tab.

What do you like about ClearCo?
  • If configured properly, the system can be customized based on an organization’s recruiting workflow, including the number of interview stages and required documents.
  • Although the Prospects function may not be the most efficient sourcing method, it diversifies sourcing options and allows for candidate engagement.
  • The system is intuitive. Prior to working with this client, I had never used ClearCo, but it was easy to learn and navigate.
Why did your organization buy ClearCo, and how long have you used it for?

I am currently a contractor for a company that has been using ClearCo for at least five years. They primarily use it as an ATS and have recently started using an additional function that allows for sourcing within the platform, aiming to reduce subscriptions to external sourcing platforms such as LinkedIn and Indeed.

It currently houses all active and previous requisitions, acts as a database for applicants, and is used to automate the entire recruiting lifecycle within the company.

Personally, I have used it for one year. My responsibilities include managing requisitions, ensuring that all candidate information is accurate and up to date, and sending status updates and automated emails within the system.

Most recently, I have used the "Prospects" function to reach out to previous candidates or those who submitted a general application through the company’s website.

The company mainly uses ClearCo to centralize and automate its recruiting process.

What do you dislike about ClearCo?
  • Sourcing within the ATS and Boolean string searches are not as reliable as other sourcing platforms. While there is potential, improvements are needed.
  • Since ClearCo is under ADP, switching between accounts occasionally causes glitches, though efforts have been made to improve system integration.
  • Clear Insights is not very reliable for analyzing recruiting metrics. While it has potential, it requires manual programming to deliver meaningful insights, unlike more advanced systems.
How is ClearCo different than their competitors?

Its integration with ADP helps compensate for ADP’s limited recruiting functionality. It is more intuitive than ADP’s recruiting features. However, other systems are more seamless, easier to use, and have more user-friendly interfaces.

What Instructions should people think about when buying this type of tool?

Functionality should be the top priority. Identify the non-negotiable features and evaluate how well the tool integrates with existing systems. The client I work with already uses ADP for payroll and related services, so ClearCo was a natural choice to ensure integration with onboarding and payroll systems.

Consider features such as insights, AI integration, and sourcing capabilities. A system is only effective if you can maximize its offerings based on what matters most in your organization's process.

How has ClearCo changed or evolved over time to meet users needs?

I haven’t used ClearCo long enough to comment on its full evolution, but recently it introduced a passive sourcing function. The company has started using this feature to help reduce expenses on external sourcing platform subscriptions.

What specific type of user or organization is ClearCo very good for?

It is suitable as a centralized applicant database and basic ATS. If it fits an organization’s current processes and system integrations, ClearCo offers a better option than other legacy systems.

What specific type of user or organization would ClearCo not be a good fit for?

It may not be ideal for newer users or younger companies. Competitors at similar price points offer more variety and features. ClearCo is more likely to appeal to organizations similar to SuccessFactors, Workday, and ADP.

Reviewer's Rating
7/10

I used ClearCo to send data of new hires to our HRIS system via an API integration. This eliminated the manual process required to transfer applicant data. I also used it to manage and move applications through the hiring pipeline, from new applicants to eventually hired employees.

What do you like about ClearCo?
  • Easy integrations.
  • Robust management tools.
  • Intuitive and user-friendly interface.
Why did your organization buy ClearCo, and how long have you used it for?

We used ClearCo for its talent management solutions, specifically its applicant tracking system. Its platform integrated seamlessly with our HRIS system. It allowed us to attract, retain, and develop top talent while aligning employee goals with company objectives. Its analytics and automation features improved efficiency, driving better decision-making.

The main issues we aimed to solve were inefficient recruitment processes, cumbersome manual transfers to our HRIS system, and the lack of automated management tools. Personally, I have used it for a year and a half.

What do you dislike about ClearCo?
  • Limited functionality compared to advanced tools.
  • Better recruiting tools are available in the market.
  • Lack of integration with some popular job posting platforms.
How is ClearCo different than their competitors?

This is a great starter tool with basic functionalities. It meets the needs of small businesses but lacks the scalability and advanced features needed for long-term use in growing organizations.

What Instructions should people think about when buying this type of tool?

Price is an important consideration, as ClearCo is relatively affordable. Evaluate how robust a system you require—while it offers good basic functionalities, other tools may provide more advanced options.

How has ClearCo changed or evolved over time to meet users needs?

Last year, they released about 11 new integrations, focusing on streamlining recruitment and enhancing candidate experiences. Like many companies, they incorporated AI-assisted tools for crafting job descriptions, candidate emails, and offer letters, enabling recruiters to communicate more efficiently.

Additionally, ClearCo expanded its performance management capabilities by introducing features like enhanced 1:1 workspaces, facilitating better collaboration and feedback between managers and employees.

What specific type of user or organization is ClearCo very good for?
  • Small Organizations: Companies with 1–10 employees benefit from ClearCo's scalability and ability to integrate with existing HR systems, helping manage workflows efficiently.
  • Industries with High-Volume Hiring Needs: Retail, healthcare, hospitality, and similar sectors use ClearCo’s applicant tracking and onboarding features to streamline hiring and reduce time-to-hire.
  • Organizations Focused on Goal Alignment: ClearCo’s tools for performance management, goal tracking, and employee engagement are ideal for businesses looking to align individual and team objectives with company goals.
What specific type of user or organization would ClearCo not be a good fit for?
  • Large Businesses with Extensive HR Needs: Organizations with over 150 employees may find ClearCo’s features insufficient for their HR requirements.
  • Non-Budget-Conscious Organizations: Businesses with larger budgets may find more robust offerings compared to ClearCo.
  • Companies Without Dedicated HR Staff: ClearCo’s tools and analytics require users familiar with HR processes, which may be challenging for organizations without HR professionals.
  • Industries with Unique HR Needs: Organizations with highly customized HR processes may find ClearCo less adaptable than desired.

I used ClearCo as an applicant tracking system from requisition inception to candidate start date. One of the features that ClearCo provided was onboarding tools and performance management. Unlike other ATSs, ClearCo was a one-stop shop for all things talent acquisition and HR.

What do you like about ClearCo?

It is a one-stop shop that makes it easy for the recruiting team and HR team to communicate and see where every candidate is in the hiring process. ClearCo also has LinkedIn integration, which is very valuable for the talent acquisition department. The base price is inexpensive, but addons will increase the price depending on company needs.

Why did your organization buy ClearCo, and how long have you used it for?

ClearCo was an easy choice for one of the small clients I supported in the US. They were looking for an inexpensive applicant tracking system to manage candidate steps and statuses. I have used ClearCo for one year. In addition to an ATS, ClearCo also provided employment verification and background checks post-offer.

What do you dislike about ClearCo?

The interview scorecards were not user-friendly for recruiters. The pricing was a bit unclear as to what is included and what is an upgrade. The reporting of recruiting metrics was limited.

How is ClearCo different than their competitors?

In terms of ease of use, it is very easy to navigate. I prefer more detailed systems such as Taleo, SuccessFactors, and Workday as their capabilities have no end. ClearCo is an average ATS with a slight edge for the onboarding and performance management tools also included.

What Instructions should people think about when buying this type of tool?

Think about how many people in your organization will be using the system. While it is only a base price of $5.00 per license, once you figure out how many people will need access, it will add up, particularly if you need upgraded features. Their customer service is easily accessible and helpful. Ease of use is crucial, and the dashboard is set up well, making it easy for users to navigate.

How has ClearCo changed or evolved over time to meet users needs?

While I have only had one year of experience, I know they are constantly making improvements to make it a better and more user-friendly system.

What specific type of user or organization is ClearCo very good for?

This depends on the needs of the company. I think a smaller-sized organization is best suited for a tool like ClearCo, especially if you aren't looking for all the bells and whistles.

What specific type of user or organization would ClearCo not be a good fit for?

Fortune 100 companies or similar-sized companies with 10,000+ employees may not get the most out of ClearCo. Those companies would benefit from one set price rather than a per-user fee.
