ClearCo provides a series of cloud-based HR solutions that you can purchase individually or combine as needed. Their applicant tracking system (ATS) packs employer branding and candidate sourcing capabilities with job post distribution to multiple job boards and customizable career sites. You can also screen candidates through recorded video interviews or live interviews with third-party video conferencing integrations, send them offer letters, and onboard them via ClearCo’s own onboarding solution.
To drive employee performance and engagement, ClearCo facilitates different kinds of employee reviews, goal planning, as well as surveys so you can continuously gauge the health of your organization’s culture and improve accordingly. The platform covers employee recognition too with employee celebrations and shoutouts features.
You can also plan for the future with ClearCo’s Workforce Planning module. Currently, this module packs features for continuous talent planning, talent metrics & assumptions by role, people analytics, headcount forecasting, hiring plan development, data visualization tools, equipment management, and more.
Overall, we think that ClearCo is a solid platform that many medium and large-size businesses can benefit from. It is feature-rich and user-friendly, and the team behind it offers great support and implementation services according to most people that use it.

As an ATS we used ClearCo to post open roles and track a candidate's workflow. The ATS offered reporting on metrics such as time-to-fill and source of hire, which was also helpful. When planning for a SOC II audit and applying for our HITRUST certification, we used ClearCo for training and audit data.
We also used ClearCo to create and track employee OKRs. The OKR work was largely done at the VP and Executive level - our staff level employees didn't typically use this module.
- The ATS ease of use and candidate metric reporting.
- Onboarding was simple with digital offers and automatic requests for documents such as I9s.
- The implementation of ClearCo only took ~1.5 months.
We originally purchased ClearCo as a recruiting solution, but ultimately used it for compliance training, and OKR assignment and tracking.
- ClearCo was too expensive for one that was not a fully functioning HRIS.
- The OKR module was not intuitive and difficult to visually follow.
- Reporting for the ATS portion was helpful, but other areas were lacking.
ClearCo combines a unique set of offerings. It's not the best choice for an HRIS but if your organization is looking to develop their recruiting pipeline or interested in deepening their talent management curriculum, it's useful.
- How many HR tools employees currently have to utilize. Given that it's not a full suite solution, I would hesitate to choose ClearCo if you're not able to limit additional tools. It can cause employee confusion and frustration.
- RE: OKR tracking - it's important to consider who and/or how many people are the actual owners. It's a bit cumbersome and confusing as a tool if you don't have an extremely limited set of OKRs.
- Ensure that it will integrate with your current HRIS or even ATS if you're not purchasing that model.
ClearCo have expanded their suite of solutions and added additional training.
ClearCo is good for 100+ employees with an already-installed HRIS that will integrate quickly and easily; an organization with a recruiting-savvy manager population.
ClearCo is not recommended for fewer than 100 employees; organizations that already use disparate tools for HRIS, recruitment, employee engagement, benefits admin, etc.
We used ClearCo for full-cycle recruiting, including requisition setup, applicant tracking, and interview coordination. We also used ClearCo's built-in background check functionality, which was faster and more cost-effective than what we had previously.
For onboarding, we paired ClearCo with DocuSign, which gave us more flexibility and control. Day to day, the system was easier to manage and required far less troubleshooting.
- The platform is intuitive and easier for recruiters and hiring managers to use.
- Background checks were faster and less expensive than our previous provider.
- Customer support was more responsive and easier to work with compared to iCIMS.
We selected ClearCo to replace iCIMS after realizing we needed a more streamlined, integrated recruiting solution. Our main goal was to simplify recruiting workflows, improve support responsiveness, and better align recruiting with onboarding and HR processes.
I personally led or supported the transition and used ClearCo extensively after implementation. ClearCo offered the functionality we needed without the excess complexity we experienced with iCIMS. It also aligned better with our overall HR tech strategy.
- Some advanced enterprise features available in larger ATS platforms are more limited.
- Reporting customization could be improved for highly complex organizations.
- Due to organizational complexity, onboarding required pairing with DocuSign rather than being fully native.
ClearCo strikes a better balance between functionality and usability than many enterprise ATS tools. Compared to iCIMS, it felt more modern, flexible, and responsive to actual HR needs. It doesn’t try to be everything, but what it does offer works well and is easier to manage. For mid-sized organizations, that balance makes a big difference.
When evaluating an ATS like ClearCo, usability should be a top consideration—recruiters and hiring managers need a system they’ll actually use without extensive training.
Integration with background checks, onboarding tools, and HRIS systems is also important to reduce manual steps and speed up hiring. Support responsiveness matters, especially for growing teams that need quick answers and system adjustments.
Over time, ClearCo has continued to improve its interface and streamline core recruiting workflows, making the system easier to navigate for both recruiters and hiring managers. I’ve seen steady improvements in speed, usability, and support responsiveness, which made day-to-day administration much smoother.
ClearCo is an excellent fit for small to mid-sized organizations that want a reliable ATS without enterprise complexity.
Very large enterprises with highly customized, global recruiting requirements may outgrow ClearCo. Organizations that want a fully embedded, all-in-one HCM with native onboarding and performance modules may also prefer a different solution.
We currently have three workflows for most of our hires. Within those workflows, we track application status and move forward into screenings and interviews. The workflows are extremely easy to navigate and create.
We also use offer letter and rejection letter templates to streamline response times. Each step of the workflow is laid out clearly, allowing users to simply click and add relevant details with minimal training required.

- ClearCo integrates with my payroll provider, Proliant, making the transition from applicant to employee seamless.
- Requisitions (job postings) are easily created and can be cloned for multiple positions across several locations.
- Application questions are easy to create and can be set up quickly.
ClearCo was purchased as part of our HRIS to provide managers with an integrated applicant tracking system connected to payroll. Prior to ClearCo, managers were manually scouring job boards for applicants.
With ClearCo, requisitions are created and linked to several job boards with just a few clicks. This has significantly improved efficiency in posting and tracking jobs.
I have been using ClearCo for three years and find it very user-friendly.
- I wish ClearCo offered per-click sponsorships without requiring a paid upgrade.
- The text-to-hire and mobile apply features were difficult to set up and felt overly expensive.
- The Company Structures section was complicated and took time to understand during setup.
Although ClearCo is similar to other ATS solutions, it stands out for its excellent customer service and fast response times.
When evaluating ATS solutions, consider whether the platform can scale with your organization. It's also important to conduct a thorough cost/benefit analysis, accounting not only for the base package but also for any additional services or upgrades that may be required.
ClearCo continues to expand its product offerings to remain competitive and relevant in the market.
ClearCo is well-suited for restaurants with multiple locations and managers, as well as organizations with limited human resources staff.
ClearCo may not be a good fit for governmental or very large organizations that require in-house ATS customization.
