Pingboard offers other functionalities alongside the org chart, including an employee directory, quizzes and games about your company’s people, peer recognition tools, and social media features like status updates.

Worth Checking Out:

Lucidchart is a chart maker used for visualizing teams, workflows, and processes to drive strategic business decisions. It offers templates for every use case from IT to sales, but specifically has a great org chart template for HR teams to use to organize their people structure. 

You can automate an org chart with simple data imports from a CSV or Excel file, for which they offer a helpful tutorial on their website. You can also export org charts to share or embed on your website.

Pricing:

Lucidchart starts with a free plan that offers 3 editable documents at once, access to 100 templates, and basic integrations and collaboration tools. From there, the plans go up in price and functionality. The basic Individual plan starts at $7.95 per month for a single user and offers unlimited documents with over 1000 templates to use as well as data and automation tools.

The next upgrade is the Team plan, which features everything on Individual but adds advanced integrations and collaboration tools as well as administrative account control. It costs $9 per user per month, with a minimum of 3 users per account. Finally, there’s the Enterprise account which has all the features of the Team account but adds SSO security and advanced administrative control. You must negotiate directly for the Enterprise price.

Best for:

Large companies that are looking for an entire diagramming solution, as there are tons of templates at your fingertips. Their org chart is good, but doesn’t have as many interactive features as the other vendors on this list.

Worth Checking Out:

Charthop considers their org chart offering the beginning of a new software category called organizational management. Their platform has in-depth people planning and people analytics tools to help restructure teams, create and close open roles, propose promotions, plan departures and more. Charthop works with many HRIS and payroll solutions and can also translate CSV and Excel files to centralize your people data.

ChartHop operates on a per employee per month basis. Their base plan, called ChartHop Build, is $3.50 per employee per month. The next two plans, Grow and Scale, are $7 and $10 per employee per month respectively. They also offer an enterprise level solution with custom pricing. 

For an additional $2 per employee per month, customers can get access to ChartHop’s performance management system as well.

Best for:

Organization chart software is a growing category. Some of the vendors on our list don’t even consider themselves org charts by nature. They call themselves work design hubs, people search engines, or workforce planning software. Yet despite having all different features, org charting is the centerpiece. 

It’s easy to get caught up in the bells and whistles, but those additional features are more like nice-to-haves rather than must-haves. Decide upon your must-haves, find the vendors that check those boxes, then use the nice-to-haves to make your final decision. Each vendor has something slightly different to offer, so pick the one that best aligns with your goals.
